A woman in red pulled attention away from Trump’s big announcement. As the president celebrated investment accounts for millions of children, viewers focused on the figure beside him, questioning her identity and comparing the scene to a comedy sketch. But behind the online speculation was a familiar philanthropic name, a multibillion-dollar pledge, and an answer to her mysterious iden…
The woman was Susan Dell, 61, co-founder and board chair of the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation. She attended the October 7 Oval Office event with her husband, Dell Technologies chairman and CEO Michael Dell, to celebrate the expansion of Trump Accounts. According to the announcement, enrollment had reached approximately 70 million children following automatic registration by the Treasury Department. The Dells have pledged $6.25 billion to help fund accounts for roughly 25 million children.
Online attention, however, centered on Susan’s posture and expressions, with some commenters questioning whether the footage was real. Trump also asked Michael whether Susan might run for office, offering his “complete and total endorsement”—an exchange viewers likened to “Saturday Night Live.” Those reactions were speculation, not evidence of anything unusual. Beyond the viral moment, Susan’s public work focuses on education, health care, and family economic stability: a substantial philanthropic role largely absent from the commentary.
