The water was still when they pulled her out.

In minutes, French cinema had lost one of its fiercest, quietest forces. Nadia Farès, who fought her way from Marrakech to international screens, died after a sudden incident in a Paris swimming pool.

A mother, an actress, a director in the mak…

She was on the verge of becoming something new. After three decades in front of the camera, Nadia Farès was preparing to step behind it, shaping her first feature as a director.

From Marrakech to Nice to Paris, she had built a life around stories, breaking through with The Crimson Rivers and moving effortlessly between thrillers, dramas, and television, all while remaining fiercely protective of her private world and her daughters.

Her final hours at a private Paris sports club ended in a silence no script could soften: found unconscious in a pool, rushed to Pitié-Salpêtrière, placed in an induced coma, gone on April 17, 2026.

The investigation into the cardiac incident may answer procedural questions, but not the ones her colleagues and fans now carry. What remains are the films, the unfinished dreams of a first feature, and the memory of a woman who refused to stop creating.
