A flashing green light slices through traffic and your heartbeat spikes.
You hesitate. Is this an emergency? Do you move? Do you ignore it?
In those few seconds, someone’s treatment, pain relief, or fragile stability may hang in the balance. The law doesn’t always demand you yield. But your humanity, your patien…
That unexpected green flash is rarely about sirens, speed, or legal authority.
More often, it marks a quiet mission unfolding in the middle of everyday traffic: a frail man on his way to dialysis, a woman fighting through chemotherapy, a patient relearning to walk, a person who simply cannot get to care alone.
The vehicle behind you may look ordinary. The life inside it is not.
Green lights usually ask for courtesy, not obedience.
You are not required to slam on your brakes, cut across lanes, or take risks. But when it is safe, letting that vehicle merge, leaving an extra gap, or avoiding needless delays can keep someone’s treatment plan intact.
On crowded roads, those small, unseen choices are often the difference between missed care and maintained health. You may never know it, but a simple moment of patience can quietly change the course of someone else’s day.
