Health officials didn’t mince words.

A simple bag of dried apricots, sold in everyday stores across nearly twenty states, may be a silent trigger for terrifying allergic attacks. No smell. No warning. No clear label.

Just a hidden chemical that could close an airway in minutes. One misread package. One bite. One mo…

Across kitchen counters and pantry shelves in nineteen states, the recalled Floria Dried Apricots from Turkana Food Inc. now represent a quiet, unsettling question: who has already eaten them without knowing the risk?

The undeclared sulfites inside aren’t a problem for everyone—but for millions with asthma or sulfite sensitivity, they can turn an ordinary snack into an emergency room visit. That danger is precisely why federal rules demand clear labeling when sulfites cross a specific threshold.

The recall is a stark reminder that trust in food labels is not optional; for many, it is the line between safety and crisis.

Consumers are urged to check for lot number 440090478-15-333 and UPC 2539560010, return any affected bags, and treat even “normal-looking” apricots with suspicion. No reported illnesses is not a comfort—it is a window of time to act before the first one appears.
