This morning, I went to the park for a walk with my dog.

My morning walk stopped cold when I spotted something pale and unsettling on the park path. Even my dog refused to approach it, leaving me staring from a distance and wondering whether I had found an animal or something stranger.

I had gone to the park with my dog that morning, expecting nothing more than a quiet walk. When I stopped to rest on a bench, an oddly shaped object nearby caught my attention.

It was small and pale, but I couldn’t make sense of what I was seeing. I kept a few feet away and took photographs, hoping someone would recognize it. The people I showed were initially just as puzzled as I was.

Eventually, after researching and comparing images, I came to believe it was a squirrel embryo—an unborn baby squirrel. That wasn’t a confirmed identification, but it was the explanation I found for the strange little form on the path.

What began as curiosity became a sad, unexpected moment in an otherwise ordinary morning. I had set out for fresh air with my dog, never imagining that such a small discovery would leave such a lasting impression.
