They arrested us while the woman we protected was still shaking.
To the cops, our leather and patches told a simpler story than Melissa’s terror, months of threats, or the man now lying on the ground.
We spent that night in handcuffs, knowing a camera might hold the one thing nobody in that station wanted to hear: the trut…
We hadn’t gone to that diner looking for trouble. But once we understood why Melissa was afraid, returning to our usual lives felt impossible. She had spent months asking for help and hearing that nothing could be done.
We could at least make sure she wasn’t alone. Standing beside her cost us a night on concrete benches, but even there, we knew walking away would have cost something harder to recover.
What changed everything wasn’t another confrontation. It was footage, documented reports, and a lawyer willing to piece together what the officers had missed. The charges against us were dropped; Kyle lost his freedom.
Later, Melissa arrived at the clubhouse carrying a cake, a simple gesture that meant more than any speech. We still visit the diner every Saturday. The coffee tastes the same, but watching her pour it with steady hands reminds us why we kept coming back.
