Dry pork can ruin the dinner you needed most.
But four humble ingredients offer a comforting alternative to another disappointing meal with savory onion flavor, creamy mushroom gravy, and almost no prep. Before you leave that tenderloin cooking all afternoon, there’s one crucial detail that separates a cozy family supper from a dry, expensive mistake hiding beneath the grav…
This savory slow cooker dinner brings together pork tenderloin, dry onion soup mix, condensed cream of mushroom soup, and beef broth. For 2–2½ pounds of tenderloin, use one 1-ounce seasoning packet, one 10.5-ounce can of condensed soup, and ½ cup broth.
Place the pork in the cooker, rub with the onion mix, then whisk the soup and broth together and pour around it. There’s no searing required, just a familiar pantry shortcut that turns into a comforting sauce.
The important catch: lean tenderloin can dry out even in a slow cooker, and gravy cannot seal in its juices.
Cook on LOW, start checking around two hours, and use a thermometer rather than assuming it needs six or seven. Once the thickest part reaches 145°F, remove it and rest for at least three minutes.
Slice, spoon over the gravy, and serve with mashed potatoes or noodles for a supper that feels wonderfully homey.
