In the first of these four jokes, a frustrated husband takes his wife’s cat miles away, hoping to leave it behind. Instead, the animal returns home while he loses his way. His solution?
Ask his wife to put the cat on the phone for directions. Another woman faces a different feline problem: she tries to shut the front door on two persistent salesmen, only to discover that her own cat—not the unwelcome visitors—is preventing it from closing.
Then there’s the husband calling from a hospital after a car crash. He expects concern about his injuries, but his wife focuses on the woman who was riding with him. Suddenly, the accident isn’t her most pressing question.
Finally, a shivering train passenger agrees to pretend he and his compartment companion are married. He hopes for warmth and consideration; she supplies a colder version of married life, telling him to fetch his own blanket.
