For generations, Catherine O’Hara felt like family.

From the frantic, guilt-ridden mother racing through airports in Home Alone, to the gloriously unhinged Moira Rose in Schitt’s Creek, to the offbeat warmth of Best in Show, she created characters that felt absurd and, somehow, achingly true.

Her work threaded itself through childhoods, late-night reruns, and comfort rewatches, marking time in people’s lives.

Colleagues speak of her generosity, her precision, and the way she could shift a scene with the smallest look. Fans remember quoting her lines with friends, sharing her clips with parents and children, feeling seen in her eccentricity and vulnerability.

Her legacy is more than fame; it is the shared laughter in living rooms around the world, the tears behind the jokes, and the rare feeling that someone out there understood how ridiculous and beautiful being human can be.
