The betrayal didn’t start with a text message or a lipstick stain. It started with a rash. Red, ringed, and impossible to explain away. At first, she believed him. Long days. New soap. Maybe stress. But then the circles spread. Silent, stubborn, incriminating.

Each mark whispered what his mouth refused to say. Each patch screamed infide… Continues…

She had always trusted her instincts, but love had taught her to doubt them. When she first noticed the rash, she offered him lotion and concern. He offered her distance and irritation. The more she asked, the more defensive he became, as if the questions

burned more than the lesions themselves. Late nights turned into vague stories. Work emergencies. Dead phone batteries. A man disappearing from his own life in slow, rehearsed fragments.

The diagnosis came before any doctor spoke: a fungal infection spread almost always through close, skin-to-skin contact. Not from a keyboard. Not from a handshake. Not from a detergent aisle at the supermarket. In that moment, the pattern on

his skin aligned perfectly with the pattern of his lies. She didn’t need lab results; she needed honesty. In the end, the rash faded. The trust never did. Some scars, after all, aren’t visible at all.
